WOMEN'S EQUALITY AND WOMEN'S HEALTH GO HAND IN HAND

PTSD: HOW TRAUMATIC EVENTS AFFECT MENTAL HEALTH
On this program, Chad Wetterneck, Ph.D., psychologist at Rogers Memorial Hospital who developed and oversees their new PTSD program, describes the growing awareness of how traumatic events can haunt people and disrupt their ability to function.
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that's triggered by a terrifying event - assaults, accidents or environmental disasters. Veterans experience this when returning from war zones, but PTSD is considered a specific anxiety disorder experienced by at least 8% of the general public.

DAIS: HIGHLIGHTING TEEN DATING VIOLENCE
Dr Jill Murray is the leading expert on the subject of teen dating violence. On this program, she previewed her presentation at the annual DAIS luncheon in Madison at the Concourse Hotel on Tuesday, June 24. Building on the concept that "love is a behavior," she describes how young people can be influenced by the attention they receive and the role modeling they experience at home and through diverse and unfiltered media outlets.
Emily Barnes and Hannah Wagner Jacoby share how DAIS is working in our community to confront the growing problem of teen dating violence. Also, hear an update on the soon-to-be-announced opening of the new DAIS Shelter!
