CHILDHOOD FITNESS AND NUTRITION: A RACE AGAINST OBESITY

Guests: Katie Hensel, Founder and President, Tri 4 Schools

Deb Roussos, Registered Dietician, Group Health Cooperative
What is working to fight the rising rate of obesity in children? Tri 4 Schools is confronting this growing health risk by teaching kids about living healthy, active lifestyles through triathlon and other athletic events. A secondary benefit is that proceeds are donated to school health and fitness programs. Katie Hensel founded this non-profit organization in 2011 and is helping Dane County fight childhood obesity in a way that everyone enjoys. Katie talks about the Family Fun Run on June 16th where everyone participates. Then kids get moving at the Middleton Triathlon on August 4.

Joining Katie is Deb Roussos, a registered dietitian at Group Health Cooperative. Her tips for healthy eating for the young growing body go far beyond the fast food temptations. It's really all in the family.
