A RAINBOW OF HOPE FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES AFFECTED BY TRAUMA

Trauma can come in many forms. Community violence, grief or loss, natural disasters, child maltreatment, domestic violence, substance abuse, mental illness, and adjustment to life transitions can all cause trauma and affect children and families in a variety of ways. Typical behaviors exhibited are often long term and life changing. They include depression, anxiety and relationship challenges; violent actions toward others or to themselves; passive withdrawal in social situations, and difficulty adjusting to daycare or school settings.
