PTSD: HOW TRAUMATIC EVENTS AFFECT MENTAL HEALTH

Guest:  Chad Wetterneck, Ph.D., psychologist, head of PTSD program,
Rogers Memorial Hospital

On this program, Chad Wetterneck, Ph.D., psychologist at Rogers Memorial Hospital who developed and oversees their new PTSD program, describes the growing awareness of how traumatic events can haunt people and disrupt their ability to function.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that's triggered by a terrifying event - assaults, accidents or environmental disasters. Veterans experience this when returning from war zones, but PTSD is considered a specific anxiety disorder experienced by at least 8% of the general public.
